There is HOPE - Guest Post With Ashlynn & Coby

Today's post is very special! I got in contact with Coby and Ashlynn Mitchell about a month ago after they started following me on Instagram and I looked over their stuff and started following their story. They inspired me and I have loved being apart of their journey. Now while James and I personally can't relate to their situation, we can relate to the love that they have for each other and that is what inspired me. Like I said before I got in contact with Ashlynn about a month ago after I got thinking maybe someone who reads our blog might benefit from hearing their story. I was thrilled when Ashlynn and Coby agreed to share their story with The Mr. & The Mrs. Blog and answer a few questions. You are probably like .. well, what is their story? Therefore I think it is time I let Ashlynn and Coby take it from here.
Coby and Ashlynn celebrated 17 years of marriage in January of 2017. It was a very happy celebration and definitely their best yet as they have put in countless hours to heal & make change for the better. They have 2 little girls that took them 8 years to get and both work from home. Ashlynn mentors those seeing healthy changes in fitness and nutrition while Coby mentors those seeking true recovery from addiction. They live in Orem, Utah and run a fitness/nutrition business and also a marriage and relationship business ... both with the sole reason to give HOPE.

Their marriage started on a lie & was built on a rocky foundation. Sure there were moments, even years of bliss where they were truly happy. Traveling the world, living successful careers & even building their dream home ... but that is because they weren't dealing with core issues. If you don't talk about it, it goes away right?!? I wish, we both do but it doesn't work that way unfortunately. Life got hard around year 12 of marriage and not having skills to cope in a healthy way things when down fast. In 2014 recovery from sex addiction and betrayal trauma began and has continued with sharing of their journey each day. Their message is to let others know there is more than just surviving - we are meant to THRIVE and there are so many resources to help us find that.

Coby's Story:

Porn was my great thief of self worth for more than 28 years.  I was 38 years old when, for the first time in my life, I said out loud to my wife, “I’m proud of who I am.”  With tears in my eyes I reflected on the painful lies, deceit and heartache I inflicted on myself and my wife.  That moment I realized I could not have been more free of shame, grateful and full of hope for the future.

Ashlynn's Story:

For most of my 16 year marriage I believed the lies I was told and that replayed in my head. I believed I was not enough and never would be emotionally or physically. I believed that my marriage had hard moments because I was a jerk, quick to anger, a prude and unforgiving. If only I was … then we’d be happier. I suspected his behaviors our first month of marriage and pulled back. I lost trust in his actions and words. I didn’t understand why the man I married chose to seek other women over the one right in front of his face. I didn’t understand, and nor did he that it was an addiction that could not be cured by marriage, religion or prayer alone.

What are some of the feelings you had & how did you two work through this?

Starting recovery after years of isolation and lies sounds like it may have been a relief but quite honestly it was really hard. Insurance didn't cover the cost at all and we had already spent thousands on therapy that hadn't worked for us. We took one giant step and invested in our marriage at Addo Recovery in Lindon, Utah. Just weeks later Coby was laid off from his job and we had to make a choice to continue specialized therapy or to give up. We continued and had faith that this was going to work for us. Then the bomb dropped with FULL disclosure and we felt very unsure what we would do. Would we keep trying, separate, divorce? We opted for an in-house separation and continued to work recovery but in a very individualized way. Never couples therapy, just put our heads down and did the really hard work to not only heal but to find empathy for each other and the love that had been lost. It was 8 months before we realized that staying together was a very REAL option. Seeing each other working recovery every.single.day was life changing for us.

What is some advice you would like to give?

We are not meant to go through life fighting for more alone. We shared because our friend shared on social media years ago and it not only changed our lives but created a better life! If you are struggling in ANY WAY reach out! Reach out to someone you feel safe with, ask for help, and seek professional help. There is so much light and knowledge here on the earth right now you can get very specialized help. Our story may be different than yours but if you go into making change with the attitude that this is for YOU and no one else, find someone to be accountable to and find a professional to teach you the skills to KEEP GOING then your life will certainly change!

Playing Catch Up

WOW! These last few months have been super busy and packed full of activities and crazy unexpected things. From birthdays, basketball games and adulting! So I guess it is time to play a little catch up and update you all on what happen last month and this month so far ha ha. So sit back, grab a snack and enjoy.

February
Well we had a pretty normal month for the most part. We celebrated Valentines day at home with a nice steak dinner. It was very yummy. And we did go on a mini vacation down to Utah to use the last of James Christmas present to a BYU game. So that was fun. Most of  these pictures come from that trip.

On Saturday we got up and went to Daylight Donuts (YUMMY!) so that I could have The Mr. try out their blueberry donuts. We are huge doughnut fans so it wasn't surprising for us to go there and get some. A bakers dozen to be correct.. ha ha. After that we headed over to watch the nephew in his basketball game that he invited us to the night before! He did such a good job! He made a bunch of baskets and played defense very well. We are so proud of him.

After the game we just hung out for a bit, went and did a little shopping and to get our windshield fixed. (But it actually ended up not needing to be fixed woo!) We also ate at this really yummy sandwich place called the Italian Place. After our little adventures we headed on over to James parents house so we could help celebrate his mommy's birthday! She also share her birthday with her son Ryan! But he was on vacation so we only texted to tell him happy birthday.

After the celebrations we headed on over to the Marriott Center to enjoy ourselves a BYU game. Well at least we thought that is what we were going to do. They played HORRIBLY and it was one of the most boring games we have ever been to. We both left very dissapointed. But if anything good came out of it.. we got a $7.00 collectors cup (ha ha...) and I was able to record James favorite song. He hasn't been able to find it anywhere so he was pretty pumped for that. You can go ahead and give it a listen if you'd like below. You're welcome. HA!

Sunday morning James woke up not feeling very well. We thought at first he had the flu.. but then the pain hit! Woo-hoo... he had kidney stones! He tried his hardest to fight off the pain but couldn't take it any longer so we ended up in the emergency room. Too bad you can't just call and say hey I have kidney stones can you send me some medicine. But the important part is we got him taken care of! And he is feeling much, much better now. Oh and he had a kidney stone on each side, lucky guy!

Due to James having kidney stones we didn't end up going home on Sunday like planned. So we got to stay an extra night! Yay! More family time was nice. Well that night they had a huge hail storm! Look at the size of those suckers. It didn't last very long but it sure frightened Maggie.. Otis on the other hand was excited because it was lots of ice for him to eat ha ha. Silly dog he is.

One of the best parts of that trip was being able to hold our new niece. She is so cute! I think she likes me.. a little bit. I miss her so much and can't wait to see her again! She is the best! I love being surrounded by family especially my siblings kiddos they are so much fun and all have the best personalities. Love them bunches and miss them all! Okay, I miss all my family not just the kiddos..

On the last day of the month I headed to a quilt show with James' grandmother. It was so much fun! It made me want to begin quilting. Who would of known that I would have a desire to quilt. It just seems so relaxing and fun. It also seems like a great way to show off your personality! So be expecting a quilt coming from me soon.

MARCH
Well we are still in March but we are two weeks in so I figured why not update you on what has happened so far. Because again it has been pretty darn busy!

Lately we have been going over to James, Grandparents house a lot to play games. Well Maggie like to just make herself comfy on the couch. She is such a silly dog.. She really enjoys millions of pillows and cover herself with them or let others cover her with them or she will lay on like twelve of them. I mean she LOOOVESS pillows. And this happened the other night so I thought it would be cute to share.

Last week I went into town with the Grandparents to do a little grocery shopping and we decided to stop on by at JC Pennys! Well they were handing out coupons. I scratched off mine and got lucky and got $20 off of $20! Woo! I was able to score three shirts completely free! Happy early birthday to me. I was pretty excited. James Grandpa also got two shirts free he scored a $10 off $10 along with James Grandma but she got her shirts for $2.00! So happy shopping day to us all.

Last Saturday it was my birthday! Woo, the big 25. It was a really good day. My mommy came and surprised me! I was so excited to see her and that was one of the best presents ever. I love my mom she is my best friend so it was great to be able to spend my birthday with her! Thanks James for being such a great husband and helping surprise me. I also did a birthday UN-boxing you can see it here if you'd like!

Ah and now to this week.... Well we have been having some problems with our drains. So we decided to cal and have the Septic people come out and take a look and get our tank pumped. Well when they opened it on up they found out it was only half full. Oh no! That usually means that there is a problem somewhere else. Well after a little investigation they found out whoever put in our septic system put it in backwards! Oh dear... now we are suck with a problem! Thankfully we have good people who are going to help us fix the problem.. hopefully. Wouldn't it be nice if people did their jobs correctly? Oh well! This means James and I will be out of the house for about a week! Thankfully we have a place to stay.. but not a fun way to start off the week. Oh well we got it pumped and it solves the problem for a little until we can get it fixed ha ha.

And LASTLY! Today marks two years since we got our Miss Maggie! I'm so glad she is apart of our family. She has brightened up my day many, many times. I love her so much! Also since we weren't sure of when her birthday was we have marked today as her birthday.. so HAPPY BIRTHDAY PUPPY DOG!!!! That means Maggie girl is officially 7 years old today! WOW!

Well, thanks for traveling back a month with me and enjoying these last two weeks with us. Hope you enjoyed today's post. Don't forget to subscribe to our blog so you never miss and update!!

Brazi Bites Taste Testing!

Hello everyone! I am so excited, today's post is sponsored by Brazi Bites. Yum! Thank you Brazi Bites for sponsoring this blog post (& YouTube video!) You are an awesome company that delivers a delicious snack every time!

I was able to find three of their four flavors, Jalapeno Pepper Jack, Cheddar & Parmesan, Garlic Asiago. I found mine at Walmart & Fred Myers (Kroger) for about $5.00, to find a store near you please visit their website here

If you have no idea what Brazi Bites even are let me tell you! They are Brazillian Cheese Bread that are gluten free, trans-fat free, sugar free, soy free. Great for snacking, to add to dinner or for a fun party.

They are super easy to bake with only three easy steps.
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Do not thaw prior to baking.

2. Space frozen bites 1” apart on baking sheet
(lightly greased or parchment paper lined).

3. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden.

Yep, that is right! ONLY twenty minutes until you will experience Heaven in your mouth.

Once you pull these out of the oven they make your home smell so delightful! In fact.. I cooked these up last night and our house still smells like them. YUM! I am not complaining.

Jalapeno Pepper Jack Review:
I personally was so excited when I saw this was a flavor! I love jalapenos! These were the first ones that James and I tried. They DID NOT disappoint. Packed full of flavor and then BAM at the end a spicy kick to it. Just hot enough. To be completely honest these are my favorites!

They were so gooey on the inside and crispy on the outside. Yum. And you can totally see all the jalapenos and zesty pepper jack flakes. I give these 5 stars out of 5! Delicious.

These ones made me super excited I mean who doesn't love cheese?! I know I do.. and I have a dairy allergy so I don't get to eat cheese very often but I splurged with these! They did not disappoint one bit nor make me sick! They tasted like a delicious restaurant bread stick. Yummy!

They had the perfect amount of cheese to taste along with the soft inside and lightly toasted outside. They were fantastic. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about them. Holy crap, they are soo good! Again these will 5 out of 5 stars! Well done Brazi Bites!

Now these ones I have tasted before! I actually did a review on them and you can find it here
But I will review them again because they are that good! They tasted just like garlic bread, but better! They were not overpowering with Garlic flavors which was fantastic.

They again were the perfect texture. Gooey but not too much and just the right amount of crunch. Yum! 5 out of 5 stars for these bad boys too!

I highly recommend Brazi Bites to EVERYONE! They are great for dinner or even a quick snack.
